One of the best upgrades you can do for your Bug or Ghia is to convert the old drum brakes to disc brakes. This brake kit from EMPI is a great performance upgrade with Wilwood 4-Piston Calipers and performance rotors. While converting your brake system this kit from EMPI will also lower your car up to 2.5" all while still giving you a smooth ride since the suspension stays in the factory location. This kit comes with forged drop spindles that convert your car to a late model ball joint spindle point and uses late model Ghia style brake rotors that have been zinc plated, cross-drilled and slotted for better braking performance. This cross-drilled and slotted rotor comes with two lug patterns 5x130mm Porsche with M14-1.5 threaded holes and 5x4.75" Chevy with M12-1.5 threaded holes. Wheel studs are not included. This kit can be used on Thing but requires lower torsion arm be changed to a ball joint Bug torsion arm with the ball joint pointing up rather than down.

Installation Note: For '66-'68 Model vehicles you must use '69 and later Tie Rod Ends (See Related Products). This kit CAN NOT be used with Backing Plates! Must be used with 15" or larger wheels. This kit does not include Spindle Hardware. (See Related Products) WARNING! It is extremely important that brake lines be installed by a trained mechanic. Proper length of each line in relation to wheel travel and steering angle is critical to avoid brake failure. Equally important is brake lines must be free flowing and have no contamination. Additionally, all calipers must be bled properly, regardless of kit purchased. Do not attempt brake line or caliper installation without the experience to properly evaluate all of these issues.
